Derwentwater on Xmas Day by Andrew-and-Seven Derwentwater on Xmas Day by Andrew-and-Seven
Well yesterday DA was running like a three legged dog so only two of my intended 4 were uploaded before I lost my rag and resorted to swearing and drinking red wine.

This is one of the most beautiful shots I think I've ever taken and I don't mind saying it.

Most of the wonder is down to the weather and the land. All I did is handle the camera and a wee bit of colour saturation in Lightroom.

Derwentwater on Xmas Day by *Andrew-and-Seven Comment by =Voracious-Vixen "The shot is superb and almost looks like a painting. The colours, lighting and reflections gives the viewer a feeling of calm, the feeling that you could just sit there and look at it for hours." Yee-ouch, that's marvelous! I think I once took a photo from about the same place in January a few years back. I lost the hard drive it was on though... Oh well, yours is better anyway!

I've taken a few around the lake district actually, I'm part of a walking club that goes there quite often. Langdale was my favourite.

Just like a painting, Andrew, just like a painting. Glorious setting and perfectly captured. It's no surprise you say it's one of your best. It is...

Gorgeous. I love derwentwater.
I have spent my life walking the fells of the lakes and trying to be as miserable as wainwright.
Derwntwater an Buttermere are probably the most beautiful places on gods earth.
Nice one
Thanks for putting a smile on my face.

Beautiful photo, great work. But a more minimalist border would be advisable. The text is to large and noticeable and it does detract from the image itself.

Fair point mate. In my defence I'd say that I've seen too many images where the text is hard to read but I'll admit I may have gone too far in the other direction :)

Naturally I would never print or seriously submit to a comp etc with a border.

Oh wow. I saw this in the Dailies and I was stunned, this truly is beautiful. I wish there were such places here. It is just houses and woods everywhere.
This picture has the softest most surreal feeling, it's absolutely memorizing. (: I love it.

Well your country is not exactly stuck for beautiful places Cil, but it is a mighty big place I guess which means you have to travel more than I would for a change of scene.

Thank you for your comments on the pic, I can tell you that it isn't like this often. In fact it was dark, grey and raining a couple of hours later and stayed that way for the next 5 days.

Did you look at the other 3 from that morning that are next to it in the gallery? I'll prob be posting more from that morning soon too :)

Heh, yea I suppose it's just where you happen to be. Then again I guess it's more of a challenge for me, trying to turn something ordinary into something worth looking at. It can't be very hard making something already beautiful into a picture.

Well you were just at the right place at the right time then. (:

Haha, no I haven't yet. A very sly way to get people to look at your galllery.

LoL Well it's usually a challenge getting a decent picture since the camera doesn't record it entirely as we see it. Occasionally one gets lucky, as here, but more often than not it takes a degree of tweaking in Photoshop to bring it back to life.

"A sly way" - nowt sly here, just very blatant I thought ! :D
